My name is Alyona Gaidash, I am a watercolor artist from Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine. I came to Canada in February 2022 and am currently based in London, Ontario. In Ukraine, I was a teacher of fine arts. I worked at the art school where I had studied as a child.

I have learned many different painting techniques over the years, and most recently I developed a passion for painting flowers in watercolor. I paint botanical paintings on high-quality cotton paper. Nature is everything to my artistic drive: energy, inspiration, and visual ideas. Whenever I immerse myself in nature, I start seeing the tiniest parts of it and they captivate me. When painting flowers, I want to show their beauty in the most diminutive forms. We can all marvel at great mountains, big oceans, and great views but can we see the smallest flowers in the forest or fallen leaves in autumn? I see beauty in those tiniest forms and show this beauty to the world, to the viewer!
